Our Vision

To support, encourage, enhance and empower the women in the Port Hedland community by developing programs that provide supportive assistance and change.

Our Aim

Is enhancing the health and well being of Women in the Hedland area.

Our objectives are to provide a women’s health service, based on a social model of health that is non-judgmental, non-discriminatory, accessible and affordable to women, in particular by

a) To provide a women’s health service, based on a social model of health, to ensure the most vulnerable women and their families within our Community have access to support and healthcare regardless of financial and social circumstances

b) To provide support and services to women and their families to relieve poverty, distress, sickness, suffering, destitution, misfortune, disability or helplessness

c) To foster a spirit of neighbourly co-operation, community spirit and participation; and to be respectful of indigenous culture and people

d) To advocate for the health needs of women in the Pilbara region

The Hedland Well Women’s Centre provides a wholly free service based on a social model of health and is a non profit organisation.

The Centre receives core funding from the State Government Health Department. A 3 year partnership grant through the BHP Billiton Pilbara Health Partnership also plays a vital role in the Centre’s provision of services.

Many of the Centre’s activities are held in partnership with other local health and counselling service providers.

Dedicated staff are supported by a volunteer Board of Management made up of 12 local women.
