Port Hedland Womens Health and Wellbeing Centre

Our Vision

To support, encourage, enhance and empower the women in the Port Hedland community by developing programs that provide supportive assistance and change.

Our Aim

Is enhancing the health and well being of Women in the Hedland area.

Our objectives are to provide a women’s health service, based on a social model of health that is non-judgmental, non-discriminatory, accessible and affordable to women, in particular by;

  • providing social welfare by assisting in the relief of poverty, distress, sickness, suffering, destitution, misfortune, disability, or helplessness – especially relating to the health and welfare of women and their families;

  • providing a coordinated range of community services of a benevolent nature to women and their families;

  • assisting in the development of community services and programs for the community;

  • fostering a spirit of neighbourly co-operation, community spirit and well being, participation and support within the community;

  • Advocate for the health needs of women in the region;

  • Ensure the effective and ongoing operation of Centre business as a non-profit organisation.

The Hedland Well Women’s Centre provides a wholly free service based on a social model of health and is a non profit organisation.

The Centre receives core funding from the State Government Health Department. A 3 year partnership grant through the BHP Billiton Pilbara Health Partnership also plays a vital role in the Centre’s provision of services.

Many of the Centre’s activities are held in partnership with other local health and counselling service providers.

Dedicated staff are supported by a volunteer Board of Management made up of 12 local women.
