Harm Prevention

The Hedland Well Women’s Centre Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) is a harm reduction program that is unique to regional Australia. The program’s purpose is to keep people in the community safe and healthy.

Clients who access this service are provided with Harm Reduction Packs which include;

• Clean needles and disposable units

• Condoms

• Health and drug awareness information

Our program works under the model of social inclusion so patients are treated the same way as other clients of the Centre and have the opportunity to further access the other services the Centre provides.
This self-developed, successful harm reduction model has led the Department of Health to implement it into similar services in Western Australia.
