We are pleased to update you on the outcomes and future direction of the women’s telehealth GP service delivered in partnership with Luma and funded by BHP.
The pilot, launched at the end of 2024, was extended beyond its initial six-month timeframe due to a strong community demand and high levels of engagement. After a full 12 months of operation, it is clear that Hedland women have a strong preference for specialist female GP support, particularly for sexual and reproductive health.
We are pleased to confirm the next evolution of this important community service. Luma has committed to providing regular access to Dr. Danel two days per week, ensuring eight days of telehealth appointments each month.
The commitment will ensure a stable, sustainable service that enhances accessibility while retaining a dedicated female practitioner focused on women’s sexual and reproductive health. This reflects our shared commitment to supporting long-term, reliable sexual and reproductive healthcare in Hedland.
